The Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned the actions of the Ethiopian government, accusing it of interfering in the affairs of communities in the Gedo region. Somalia views these actions as a deliberate violation of its sovereignty and independence, orchestrated by the administration in Addis Ababa.
Reports indicate that Ethiopian forces stationed in Doolow district advanced towards Buulo Xaawo today. However, their movement was met with strong resistance from local residents and Somali security forces, who prevented them from entering the area.
The Somali government expressed its commitment to peaceful coexistence and good neighborly relations but emphasized that it will not tolerate actions aimed at destabilizing the country. The continued provocations by Ethiopian authorities, designed to incite divisions and conflict, are seen as a clear attempt to undermine Somalia’s territorial integrity.
Somalia calls on the international community, particularly the United Nations and the African Union, to condemn Ethiopia’s actions, which threaten the stability of the region and the broader goal of peace and cooperation in Africa.
The Federal Government remains steadfast in defending Somalia’s sovereignty and urges Ethiopia to respect international norms and halt its destabilizing activities.
