The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, Major General Osman Abdullahi Mohamed (Kaniif), officially inaugurated a new section at the Xamar Jajab police station in Mogadishu. This new section is a modern prison exclusively for women, designed to ensure the protection of women’s rights while in police custody.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Police Chief of Banadir region, General Mahdi Omar Muumin, the Mayor of Xamar Jajab District, and various officials from the Banadir region and local communities.
“The establishment of this facility demonstrates the Somali Police Force’s commitment to providing efficient and respectful service, especially in the care and protection of the rights of Somali women,” said Deputy Commissioner Kaniif.
This step is considered significant in strengthening public confidence in the security institutions, ensuring that all detainees are held in conditions that maintain their dignity and honor.
