A successful meeting took place today in Egypt between Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, and supporting the establishment of the AUSSOM mission.
This meeting comes as Egypt continues to support Somalia, particularly amid the tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia. Egypt also closely monitors the Ankara Agreement, prompting the Somali delegation to visit Egypt to discuss bilateral relations and ongoing cooperation between the two nations.
Meanwhile, a Somali delegation, led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ali Balcad, is currently in Addis Ababa to follow up on recent agreements, including the Ankara Agreement. This visit is a crucial step in advancing security and regional cooperation.
