Jubaland has released a statement regarding the recent clashes in Raskamboni, where Somali National Army (SNA) forces suffered a significant defeat against Jubaland troops. According to Jubaland’s administration, the SNA forces were forced to surrender after facing a heavy attack, and some of the soldiers reportedly handed themselves over to the Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF), who are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). However, there has been no official confirmation from Kenya regarding this claim.
Jubaland also accused the Federal Government of attempting to assert control over the region, particularly in matters such as elections. This, according to the regional administration, led to the deployment of federal forces to the area to engage with Jubaland’s forces.
The statement emphasized that Jubaland’s troops will continue to defend their region, remaining prepared to counter any further intervention by the Federal Government.
