The body of Senator Maxamed Cali Yuusuf Gaagaab was laid to rest today in Galkayo, the capital of Mudug region. Senator Gaagaab, a member of Somalia’s Upper House, passed away on December 3 in Turkey, where he was undergoing medical treatment.
This morning, his body was transported from Turkey to Mogadishu by air. Upon arrival, a Janaza prayer was performed, attended by senior government officials and citizens. Following the prayers, the body was flown to Galkayo for burial.
The late Senator was a prominent figure in Somalia’s Federal Parliament and served as a representative in the Upper House. His passing marks a loss to the Somali legislative community.
