An airstrike outside Ceelbuh in the Sanaag region has killed traditional elder Cumar Cabdillaahi Cabdi, a well-known community figure. Witnesses said his vehicle was directly targeted with three missiles. Family members confirmed that Cumar died instantly and that no one else was traveling with him.
His brother, Cali Cabdillaahi Cabdi, told media that the vehicle was completely destroyed and burnt, with only the elder’s remains recovered from the scene. He added that Cumar had no links to any wanted groups, and that the family has remained at the site awaiting an official investigation into the incident.
So far, neither Puntland security officials nor federal authorities have issued a statement on the strike. Relatives and locals are demanding clear answers about who carried out the attack and why, noting that this is the first airstrike of its kind in the Ceelbuh area of Sanaag.
